Lot record
This bottle's own record.
Choose the lot number printed on your bottle. Its harvest date, laboratory measurements, bottling details and source groves appear below.
A field that has not been measured stays blank. That is not an error: we do not write any number without a document behind it.
Glossary
What those numbers actually mean.
- Free acidity
- How intact the oil was when it was processed, measured as a percentage of oleic acid. The legal ceiling for the extra virgin grade is 0.8%. Lower is better.
- Total polyphenols
- The source of the bitterness and the peppery finish in the throat. Not a flaw: a sign of fresh, early harvest oil. It also sets the shelf life.
- Peroxide
- The degree of oxidation. Time from harvest to pressing, storage temperature and light exposure show up here. Lower is better.
- Lot number
- Shared by bottles filled on the same day from the same harvest. If anything goes wrong, this number tells which batch is affected.
- Grove location
- GPS-measured location of the groves the oil came from, so we can say "these groves", not "the region".
- Food registration no.
- The Ministry of Agriculture registration number of the licensed filling facility. Required on packaged food labels.
